YOUR FIRST CAR

MyFirstRobot.pdf

Using the attached template, create your very own first car!

For this activity you will need:

  1. Cardboard
  2. Printout
  3. Markers/Pens/Pencils
  4. Zipties (x6)
  5. Motors (x2)
  6. Wheels (x2)
  7. AA Batteries (x8)
  8. Battery Pack
  9. Masking Tape

Part 1 - Assembly

To assemble your car, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Cardboard Base - With an 8.5 x 11" sheet of cardboard, crease and fold about 2" in from each short edge. This should leave enough space for the battery pack to fit neatly in the center.
  2. Mount Motors - Align the motors as shown, and mark the points where the axles will go through the sides of the cardboard. Use a sharp pencil to VERY CAREFULLY punch a hole in each side for the motors. Connect the motors to the wheels through the sides.
  3. Connect Electronics - Place the batteries inside the battery case, and tape the case securely to the cardboard body. Connect the wires from the battery case to the motors, and secure them with masking tape.

Part 2 - Documentation

To document your robot, find a nice background and photograph it from a few different angles. You will need to submit four (4) photos:
