When writing an essay, a thesis statement is a sentence that states the topic and purpose of your writing. A good thesis statement will direct the structure of your essay and will allow your reader to understand the ideas you will discuss within your paper.
A thesis statement for a creative project serves a similar purpose. This statement will guide your research and prototyping throughout the creative process.
EXAMPLE PROJECT THESIS
GloFlo helps overtaxed individuals manage stress and improve focus by encouraging moments of relaxation. The lamp features eight arms with soothing white lights that move in response to hand proximity. Moving your hand closer to the sensor raises the lights, while moving it away lowers them. When the hand is removed, the lights return to their original upright position. An Arduino controls the mechanism, using an ultrasonic sensor to adjust a servo that moves the arms. The gentle motions and soft light create a calming and meditative experience.

Inspired by the Aurora Borealis, we aimed to create an abstract representation of its colors and movement. We used translucent acrylic boxes and LEDs to mimic the Northern Lights' glow. A Servo moved the boxes in a wavy motion, and an ultrasonic sensor triggered the lights and movement when a person stood underneath. Despite challenges with acrylic weight and LED soldering, we refined our design through iterations, ultimately achieving a realistic and dynamic display.

Description
A concept thesis is an important step in starting a collaborative partner project. We will use this time to combine ideas and arrive at the conceptual directions of our projects.
Instructions
Start by sharing the ideas that each partner brought to the brainstorming and what conclusions we arrived at by the end of the session. Take time to figure out shared interests and begin to draft both a project name and a thesis statement of what you will build.
Deliverables
At the end of this activity, each partnership should have a draft of a project name and a draft of a project concept thesis.
