MUSICAL WEARABLE

Prompt:

For this activity, you will work in pairs to create a musical wearable using basic prototyping materials such as cardboard, paper, string, and whatever you may find in the classroom. To begin, discuss as a class, how you define a musical wearable.

Instructions:

In pairs, come up with 3 general ways you could generate sound such as clapping, popping, clacking etc. Then, consider how you can activate each of the three chosen sounds through your body. Start by sketching out what your musical wearable looks like. When you are ready, move into crafting your wearable. Consider the following guidelines as you work:

  1. Your musical wearable must be worn by a user and testable
  2. It should generate interesting sounds through body movement
  3. There should be a securing mechanism that allows the user to perform freely (For instance, tied to the arm, wrapped & taped around the head etc.)

Deliverables:

Submit a post in the Responses tab with all the documentation from prototyping, scans or photos of any sketches, and include a few sentences that describe your musical wearable.
